VoteVets Applauds Bipartisan Legislation to Expand Access to Veterans’ Benefits Information
Washington, D.C. — VoteVets, representing nearly 2 million veterans, military families, and their supporters, today applauded the introduction of the bipartisan Thomas M. Conway Veterans Access to Resources in the Workplace Act, led by Representatives Chris Deluzio (D-PA) and Nick LaLota (R-NY) and Senators Angus King (I-ME) and Jim Banks (R-IN).
The legislation would require employers with more than 50 employees to display clear, accessible information about veterans’ benefits and resources in the workplace, helping connect more veterans to the care, support, and services they have earned through their service.
The bill is named in honor of the late United Steelworkers International President and Air Force veteran Tom Conway, who dedicated his career to fighting for working people and veterans alike, founding the USW’s Veterans of Steel program and championing pro-veteran legislation until his passing in September 2023.
“Too many veterans struggle not because support doesn’t exist, but because they don’t know where to find it,” said Max Rose, Afghanistan Veteran and Senior Advisor at VoteVets. “This is a straightforward, bipartisan fix that helps close that gap, making sure veterans see, understand, and can actually access the benefits they’ve earned before small challenges become bigger crises. Tom Conway understood that, and this bill is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”
VoteVets is proud to stand alongside 15 labor unions in supporting the Thomas M. Conway Veterans Access to Resources in the Workplace Act. We urge Congress to move swiftly to pass this legislation and ensure that no veteran is left unaware of the resources available to them.
