Ryan grew up in Bettendorf, surrounded by teachers, veterans, and small business owners. After high school, he attended the U.S. Naval Academy, became a Naval Officer, and earned his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator, leading young sailors on global missions.

Ryan later served as a Defense Fellow in the U.S. Senate, focusing on national security and understanding the importance of public trust in government. He returned to the Naval Academy to mentor midshipmen and promote a culture of integrity.

Now back in Iowa after fifteen years in the military, Ryan is running for Secretary of State, advocating for fair, secure, and accessible elections and a trustworthy democracy.
