VoteVets Statement on Trump Medicaid Decision
“This administration has now officially declared war on veterans in need.”
Washington, DC – Plans were unveiled today by Donald Trump, to allow states to begin denying Medicaid to people and their families who are facing hard times and unemployment.
Iraq War Veteran and Director of Government Relations for VoteVets, Will Fischer, released the following statement, in reaction:
“This administration has now officially declared war on veterans in need. There are 1.75 million, or one-out-of-ten, veterans who rely on Medicaid for health care – countless numbers of them on the program because they are facing hard times and are unemployed. Hundreds of thousands of them have no other form of health care. Scheming a way to tear health care away from them and their families is saying that these people who put their lives on the line for America aren’t worth our money. No decent person, let alone a patriot, would even consider issuing such guidance.”
