VoteVets PAC Endorses Ruben Ramirez for Congress

McAllen, TX — The largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Ruben Ramirez for Congress, in Texas’ 15th Congressional District.

“Giving back to community and country is the constant theme in Ruben’s life, and it’s why he’ll be a great representative of the people of the Rio Grande Valley,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets. “From becoming a teacher in his hometown to give kids what they need to lead successful lives, to volunteering to serve and go to war in Afghanistan, Ruben’s life has been about helping and protecting his community and his country. Especially as we see the ugliness from those in Congress who continue to attack this country and our Constitution, having people like Ruben in Congress is more important than ever.”

Ruben Ramirez is a former educator, current trial attorney, and a decorated Army veteran that served his country honorably in the Afghanistan war. He was born in the Rio Grande Valley and grew up in Edinburg, Texas in very humble beginnings, but with a loving grandmother and father who instilled the value of integrity, hard work, and patriotism in him. After attending the University of Texas-Pan American – today known as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley – he became a licensed educator and taught Chemistry and Physics to high school students in his hometown. He volunteered to join the war in Afghanistan to fight for our freedom in the U.S. Army, and was recognized with a battlefield promotion and a Bronze Star for his leadership. After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Houston Law Center with his young family in tow. Today, he is a civil trial lawyer representing his neighbors in the Rio Grande Valley in a court of law, as he seeks to do in Congress.
