VoteVets PAC Endorses Matt Collier for Congress

The largest progressive group of Veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Matt Collier to be the next Member of Congress from Michigan’s 8th congressional district.

“In these unprecedented times, people like Matt, and his background and experiences, are the exact kind of people we need in Congress,” said Travis Tazelaar, Political Director of VoteVets PAC. “Matt knows and understands service and has dedicated his life to it. He will be a tireless fighter for veterans, service members, health care, our democracy, our freedoms, and all Michiganders in Congress. Put simply, Matt is a doer and knows how to get things done. And that is what Congress and the nation needs right now. We’re proud to endorse him.”

Matt passed up an offer to go to Princeton to play hockey and went to West Point instead. He wanted to serve. He became an elite Airborne-Ranger and left the Army with the rank of Captain after six years of service. Matt also served as a President Obama appointee to the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he led public-private partnerships for the agency. His work built the first public-private VA hospital, raised nearly $500 million for Veterans, improved care for Veterans with cancer and brain injuries, and improved Veteran access for mental healthcare.

Since leaving the VA, Matt has continued his work for Veterans. Combining his private and public experience he founded a company to fill transitional healthcare gaps and treatment while serving as a board member for the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF), as well as the National Association of Veteran Education and Research Foundations (NAVREF)
