VoteVets PAC Endorses In Three Key House Races Where Veteran Candidates Can Provide Crucial Flips

“Veterans remain the best positioned candidates to make crucial flips.”

Washington, DC. – Today, VoteVets PAC is announcing that it is making endorsements in three key House races as the most anti-Veteran administration continues to wreak havoc on our economy and expand the map for Democrats. The candidates being endorsed today are: Zach Dembo (KY-06), Col. Darren McAuley (FL-15), and Evan Munsing (CO-08). Last cycle alone, VoteVets spent $50 million helping to elect VoteVets-endorsed candidates. Our investments proved to be effective in helping candidates get across the finish line  and we were able to see a success rate at a time when other Democrats were not as successful. Thanks in part to our investments, 143 VoteVets-endorsed candidates clinched victory amidst a global rightward lurch.

The following quote can be attributed to VoteVets Political Director, Travis Tazelaar:

“As the map continues to expand thanks to the failed policies and chaos we’re seeing from Republicans in Washington, Veterans remain the best positioned candidates to make crucial flips. These three candidates have been in tough fights before and they know what it takes to put their country first and actually deliver results. We know there is no path to flipping the House without Veteran candidates running and winning in districts that other Democrats can’t compete in. We’re excited to be behind these three campaigns and to help each of them across the finish line.”

Bios for all three candidates can be found below.

Zach Dembo:

Zach was raised in Lexington and is a ninth-generation Kentuckian. Zach went to Stanford University and after college, worked as an eighth grade English teacher in the Mississippi Delta, as a part of the Teach For America program. He then attended the University of Michigan Law School, where he made the decision to serve his country and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. He spent over 4 years in the Navy on active duty. In 2017, Zach became a federal prosecutor in the US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. In that role he traveled the country prosecuting crimes to protect people’s civil and constitutional rights. In 2020 he found his way home when Governor Andy Beshear appointed Zach to be his policy advisor and eventual legislative director. After leaving the Beshear administration, Zach once again returned to his role as a federal prosecutor, this time in his hometown of Lexington, as an Assistant United States Attorney. After seeing firsthand the corruption and politicization of the Department of Justice, Zach made the difficult choice to resign from the job that he loved. But, he didn’t want that to be the end of his public service, and he didn’t want to back down from the fight. He’s running to face the failed DC leadership head-on by running to be Central Kentucky’s voice in Congress.

Col. Darren McAuley:

Col. Darren McAuley is a U.S. Air Force veteran, sports medicine specialist, happily married father of three, and prospective candidate for Florida’s 15th Congressional District. His military service has taken him on 6 tours of duty and more than 300 combat hours, including caring for injured servicemen and women in combat zones in Iraq and Syria. He currently serves as State Air Surgeon for Florida and provides care within the Veterans Health Administration. He also serves as department chair at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Evan Munsing:

Evan Munsing knew he wanted to be a Marine from the time he could walk. After college, Evan worked in the Department of Defense while waiting for his chance to attend Officer Candidate School. Eager to serve and defend our country, Evan volunteered for the infantry, knowing it would put him in danger.  He deployed twice, including to Afghanistan where he served as a military advisor to the Afghan Army. Since leaving the service, Evan has managed complex organizations with hundreds of employees, hired and coached CEOs, and invested millions into small businesses that have created jobs for hard working Americans. Now, Evan is running to bring independent leadership back to Colorado, protect our way of life, and make sure everyone has the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
