VoteVets PAC Endorses Dan Helmer for Congress

CLIFTON, VA – The first and largest progressive group of Veterans, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Dan Helmer to be the next Member of Congress from the 10th District of Virginia.

“Dan Helmer has dedicated his life to the service of others, his community, and his country. His selfless leadership is sorely needed in Congress, right now,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets PAC. “He’s been there for Veterans when we’ve needed him most and never forgot where he came from. He’s a public servant in every sense of the word; dedicated not just to the people of America and Virginia, but our Constitution that we swore to protect and defend. We’re very proud to back him in this race.”

Delegate Dan Helmer lives in Fairfax County with his wife, Karen, a public school educator, and their two sons. He is the son of an immigrant and the grandson of refugees and Holocaust survivors.

He is a West Point graduate and former active-duty Army Intelligence and Armor Officer who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he stood up the national Counterinsurgency Center. He subsequently served at US Special Operations Command where he deployed a specially trained team globally to conduct counterterrorism and other intelligence operations in support of national policy. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service in Afghanistan and has served on the faculty at the United States Military Academy in the Department of Social Sciences.
