VoteVets Launches Half-Million Dollar Ad Blitz Targeting House Members on Ukraine, While They’re Home for Recess

Ads airing for two weeks target Jen Kiggans, Marc Molinaro, Brandon Williams, Juan Ciscomani, David Valadao, John Duarte, and Lori-Chavez DeRemer, urging them to support Senate national security package fully funding Ukraine’s fight against Putin

 

WASHINGTON, DC – The national Veterans Organization, VoteVets, representing over 1.5 million Veterans, Military Families and civilian supporters, is today launching a $530,000 two-week television ad buy explicitly calling out seven Members of Congress for not supporting a vote on a bipartisan national security bill that fully funds Ukraine’s war effort versus Vladmir Putin. That bill passed the Senate in early February. Still, House Speaker Mike Johnson has refused to bring it up for a vote, as Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, continues to oppose Ukraine’s war efforts.

Each version of the ad is tailored for the district it is running in, mentioning Members by name. The ads can be seen here:

In the ad, over footage of the war in Ukraine and Putin, a narrator says:

“The war criminal dictator is biding his time, waiting, while [Member’s Name] plays right into his hands. Ukrainians have more than held their own, taking back over half the land Russia seized. But now, [Member’s name] is holding Ukraine aid hostage, following orders from Donald Trump. If Ukraine falls, the line between freedom and fascism moves west, and it could be American boots on the ground next. Give Ukraine what they need to win, before it’s too late.” 

The ad closes by telling the Members to support H. Res. 1016, the bipartisan national security package that passed the Senate, and the only bill that fully funds Ukraine’s needs.

The ad is the latest in a long line of action VoteVets has taken to support funding Ukraine. The group also hosted a press conference attended by House and Senate members, joining a Veteran who volunteered to fight in Ukraine and the father of a Veteran who also volunteered to fight in Ukraine, who tragically lost his life there.
