VoteVets Investing Six-Figures in Texas Special Election Run-Off for Senate District 9

The $500k Ad Buy is the First Major Investment in the Run-Off from a Leading National Organization

Washington, DC. – Today, VoteVets is announcing a $500k ad buy in the special election run-off for Texas Senate District 9. This ad buy is the first major investment in the run-off from a leading national organization and comes as Democrats have seen success down-ballot and a time when margins are tightening in traditionally “red areas.” This race is entering a run-off after Democratic Veteran Taylor Rehmet took an “unexpected lead” in the race to replace the Republican incumbent, even though he was outspent. The ad VoteVets is launching, “Lives It” will focus heavily on Rehmet’s military experience and is reaching voters across popular cable networks, streaming services and digital platforms, with an emphasis on mobilizing Democrats and swayable moderate Independents, who could decide this election.

In a time when voters’ cynicism is difficult to break through, our ads combine the most persuasive message with the most trusted messengers. Nonpartisan research by Gallup confirms that Veterans continue to be trusted messengers for a wide swath of voters, and have special credibility with blue collar men and younger demographics that Democrats need to bring back into the fold. Simply put, with the right message and messengers, VoteVets moves voters that no one else in the Democratic ecosystem can.

Voiceover:

To Taylor Rehmet, Tarrant County is more than a place. It’s a promise. But skyrocketing prices and property taxes are pushing that promise out of reach. It’s time to vote in a leader who gets it ‘cuz he lives it…Taylor Rehmet for Senate. Taylor’s a local vet who served honorably and came home to build F-35s. A working man who’ll stand up to corporations rippin’ off the little guy. Rehmet for Senate. Voting starts January twenty-one.
