VoteVets Endorses Josh Welle for Congress
RED BANK, NJ – VoteVets PAC, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, is today endorsing Josh Welle for Congress, in New Jersey’s 4th District.
“Josh is someone who excels when it comes to serving others – it’s what motivates him,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “That’s the kind of mindset we need in Washington, right now – someone who puts service above self. Additionally, Josh has desperately needed national security experience, that we need in Congress, to ensure that America stays secure, in an increasingly dangerous world. We’re very proud to endorse him.”
According to his bio, Josh was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1998. After graduating Annapolis and becoming Class President he served 12 years active duty. Welle’s service included supporting the Marine landing during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, a tour with the Army 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and four deployments to the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. His responsibilities spanned from strategically advising the Ambassador in Kabul as Chief of Staff to the NATO Civilian-Military Cell in Regional Command-South to being Executive Officer of a Navy Mine Countermeasure ship in the Persian Gulf. Josh was also an academic instructor, selected to teach International Relations at the Naval Academy, became the first Military Fellow at the Center for New American Security, and was a Council on Foreign Relations term member.
