VoteVets Endorses Josh Hicks for Congress

Lexington, KY – The largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Josh Hicks for Congress in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.

“When it comes to putting his fellow Kentuckians and Americans before himself, Josh Hicks stands out,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets. “But isn’t just his spirit of service. Josh knows the meaning of a hard day’s work, and what many Kentucky families are going through.  Ironworker, rigger, police officer, Marine. That’s someone who understands the people he wants to represent, and who has proven he’ll always put them first.”

Josh Hicks has served his country and community his whole life: first in the US Marine Corps, then as a police officer, and now as a trial attorney. He attended Fleming County High School, playing as a standout offensive and defensive lineman, and enrolled at Georgetown College to continue his football and academic career. Drawn to his father’s work in construction and his family’s heritage of military service, Josh left school, spending a year as an ironworker and rigger and then enlisting in the US Marine Corps.

As a US Marine, Josh was trained as a radio operator and cryptographic custodian, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After completing two deployments with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Josh returned to Kentucky and joined the Maysville Police Department, serving on the Emergency Response Team and as a certified training officer, training new police recruits.
