VoteVets Endorses Jesse Colvin for Congress
PERRY HALL, MD – VoteVets PAC, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, is today endorsing Jesse Colvin for Congress, in Maryland’s 1st District.
“Toughness, dedication, and service are what define Jesse, and we cannot think of qualities we need more of, in Congress, right now,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “Jesse is someone who doesn’t forget where he came from, or who he’s there to serve. We love that Jesse brought one of his fellow Rangers aboard to manage his campaign, too. It just speaks to how Jesse wants to make his campaign all about service. We’re proud to endorse him.”
According to his bio, Jesse served six years in the U.S. Army as an intelligence officer, completing four combat deployments to Afghanistan and a year forward-stationed near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in South Korea as the sole intelligence officer for an infantry unit. He is a graduate of the US Army’s Ranger Course, the premier leadership school in the military. He served in the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment and competed four combat deployments in Afghanistan within a Joint Special Operations Task Force. He led intelligence teams whose work facilitated capture/kill missions of Taliban, al-Qaeda, and other terrorist leaders.
Jesse’s campaign manager is also a veteran. Carlos Salazar served as a non-commissioned officer in the Army Rangers. He served five combat deployments, including two side-by-side with Jesse to Afghanistan. Carlos was growing a personal training practice and competing as an amateur mixed martial arts fighter in Atlanta, GA, when Jesse asked him to come to Maryland to manage his campaign.
