VoteVets Endorses Jay Chen for Congress

Hacienda Heights, CA – VoteVets PAC, the largest group of progressive veterans in America, is today endorsing Jay Chen to be the next Representative from California’s 39th congressional district.

“Jay is what the American dream is all about,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets. “From being a child of immigrants, to serving in the military and protecting America from ISIS, then giving back to his community on the local school board, Jay’s shown incredible commitment to this country and his community. He knows what it will take to keep America safe from threats it faces abroad and at home, and will never forget that he’s there to serve his neighbors – like he always has. We’re so proud to endorse him.”

Jay is the son of Taiwanese immigrants and is fluent in Mandarin and Spanish. He’s from the district, attended Hacienda Heights public schools, and earned a Navy ROTC scholarship to attend Harvard. As a Lt. Commander in the US Navy Reserves, he served in the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East, including as a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he led an intelligence team against ISIS. Jay was twice elected as the President of the Hacienda-La Puente School Board, and currently serves on the Mt. SAC Board of Trustees. Jay is running for Congress in California’s 39th Congressional district because Washington is broken.
