VoteVets Back Up With $700,000 Ad Buy Touting Gary Peters

Ad highlights Peters service to America and Michigan, including on troop pay, and security at our ports

LANSING, MI – VoteVets Action Fund, representing over 700,000 veterans, military families, and civilian supporters, is back up on the air with a $700,000 television ad buy throughout Michigan, supporting the work of Gary Peters in the US Senate. The ad will be running for two weeks, in Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Marquette, and Alpena, as well as satellite around the state.  This comes after the group ran another $750,000 two-week ad buy, last month, also supporting Peters’ work in the Senate.

In front of footage of Peters riding a motorcycle, a narrator says, “He’s been called one of the most effective members of the US Senate.  Gary Peters. He served in the Navy Reserve, and after the September 11th attacks, volunteered to serve again.  In the Senate, Gary Peters voted to get our troops the pay raise they deserve, and worked to keep Michigan safe.

Peters then says, in a clip from an interview, “The way I look of this is, we should not even be thinking of Democratic ideas and Republican ideas. We should just be thinking of ideas that are good for the country, ideas that are great for Michigan.”

The narrator then concludes, “Thank Gary Peters. Tell him to keep fighting, for Michigan.”

Indeed, Peters did vote for the largest pay raise American troops saw in nearly a decade, in 2018, and his measure, cosponsored by a number of Republicans, the “Securing America’s Ports of Entry Act of 2019,” was signed by Donald Trump on December 22, 2018. Senator Peters was also a key supporter of the National Defense Authorization Act, which supported defense jobs in Michigan and fought to bring new defense projects to the state.
