STATEMENT: “This Is The Move Of A Weak And Insecure Tyrant, Not A Strong Commander-in-Chief”

Washington, DC –  Tonight, in response to President Trump abruptly firing Air Force Gen. CQ Brown as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and announcing more high level shakeups will be coming soon, VoteVets Senior Advisor Major General (Ret.) Paul Eaton released the following statement: 

“This is the move of a weak and insecure tyrant, not a strong Commander-in-Chief. Firing senior military leaders for political reasons is a reckless, dangerous step that will directly harm military readiness and stability. Right now, allies and enemies alike are watching Donald Trump undermine our ability to defend against global threats. Unfortunately, this move will have far-reaching consequences for the future of the United States military. 

“Our military is the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world due in part to its apolitical leadership and commitment to defending the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. The brave men and women who serve our country in uniform deserve leaders who are equally committed to national security, not personal political interests. Yet again, Donald Trump has proven his inability to be that type of leader. History will not only judge this move, but those who remain silent in its wake.”
