Statement on Revelation That Donald Trump Met Military Families After Testing Positive for COVID-19

“As if we needed more evidence that Donald Trump was the most anti-troop, anti-military family president in this nation’s history, today we got it.

First and foremost, the White House should review any contact tracing. If any Gold Star family members who were at the event came down with COVID, and likely got it from Donald Trump, they should be informed immediately.

That a commander-in-chief, knowing he likely had COVID-19 would press up close to Gold Star family members and risk infecting them shows just how little regard he had for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. To then go out and speculate that they were the ones who gave him COVID, when he knew that was not true, shows the utter disrespect he had for them and their sacrifice to this country.

Then again, we’re talking about someone who called troops who gave their lives suckers and losers, and couldn’t fathom why anyone would give their lives in service.

If that was all he did, it would just be stunningly offensive. But Donald Trump went much further. In recent days we have learned more about his attempt to illegally overturn the 2020 election, and essentially stage a coup, culminating with the January 6th insurrection. This shows how little respect he has for our Constitutional Republic – the very same one our troops take an oath to protect with their lives.

Every single Republican who does not stand up against Trumpism and all it represents is a threat to our troops, their families, and the American way of life. We will do everything within our power to keep them from ever controlling any part of our government again. Let this be a warning to all Trumpist Republicans – we will come after you hard, in 2022.”
