STATEMENT OF VOTEVETS ON THE VA MISSION ACT

Washington, DC – Will Fischer, Iraq War Veteran and Director of Government Relations for VoteVets, released the following statement in regards to the VA MISSION Act, which passed through committee, in the House of Representatives, this morning:

“We agree with Ranking Member Walz that the VA MISSION Act is problematic in that Congress is setting up a situation where, unless something is done, VA community care, due to the lack of a sustainable source of funding, will burn through all of its funds by the end of FY2019. This will trigger sequestration and across-the-board cuts. This leaves veterans and community care providers in the lurch, and the future of our VA in question. We’re hopeful that Congress will take these concerns seriously, and provide a fix, either in this bill, or in subsequent legislation.”
