From the battlefield to managing 19 statewide offices as a cabinet secretary, Sonya has served every corner of New Mexico. She played a key role on the state’s COVID Executive Team, helping guide the response during one of our most vulnerable moments. While others have only worked within their counties, Sonya has delivered services in all 33 counties, strengthening the systems New Mexicans rely on every day. As a healthcare administrator and advocate for equity, she is proud of her work with the LGBTQIA+ community and people living with HIV, as well as her deep engagement with tribal and rural communities. Sonya is an active member of the Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a public service organization.
She knows the Secretary of State’s Office is more than elections. It’s a complex agency responsible for business filings, ethics oversight, campaign finance transparency, notary commissions, and public records access. Sonya’s statewide executive experience makes her the only candidate prepared to protect our elections and modernize these critical administrative functions.
