A native of Novato, California, Josh Fryday currently serves as California’s Chief Service Officer, where he leads the nation’s largest service corps. Under his leadership, California Volunteers has expanded to provide over 10,000 paid opportunities for residents to serve their communities, a force now larger than the entire Peace Corps. His dedication to public service is deeply rooted in his personal history; having moved 17 times as a child due to rising rents, Fryday brings a sense of personal urgency to his work in addressing California’s housing and affordability crises. He balances his professional life as a climate leader and former mayor with his role as a husband to Mollye, a public school teacher, and a father to their three sons.
