Inspired by his grandfather’s U.S. Army service and raised by a single mother who taught him the value of hard work and integrity, Christian Mitchell serves as a Reserve officer in the Illinois Air National Guard. Joining the Guard in 2023 to deepen his commitment to state and country, Mitchell’s military service reflects a lifelong dedication to public duty and standing up for others.
That same spirit of service has defined Mitchell’s impact in state government, first as an Illinois State Representative championing equitable school funding, reproductive freedom, and workers’ rights, and later as Deputy Governor starting in 2019. In leadership, he spearheaded landmark clean energy initiatives, assault weapons bans, and major infrastructure investments that created thousands of jobs. Combining executive accomplishment with military leadership, Mitchell continues to be a steadfast, results-driven advocate for working families.
