Callie grew up in Traverse City and Cheboygan, where her family has lived for five generations. Now raising her children in the same area, she has been deeply affected by her high school boyfriend Matt’s service in the U.S. Marine Corps, which included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After relocating five times while caring for their two daughters, Callie became Matt’s main caregiver after he returned home with combat-related injuries, leading her to work with military families and veterans.
With a degree in secondary education from Central Michigan University and a law degree from the University of Michigan, she became a business attorney focused on connecting veterans with free legal assistance. Callie advocates for change in Northern Michigan, addressing high housing costs, difficult healthcare access, and excessive grocery prices, believing that enough is enough.
