VoteVets Slams Trump Decision on Iran Nuclear Deal Sanctions
“Donald Trump’s decision to re-start nuclear tensions with the Iranian regime, when he has made no substantive progress with North Korea, is mindbogglingly dumb and dangerous.”
WASHINGTON, DC – VoteVets, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, is today slamming Donald Trump’s decision to further violate the Iran nuclear deal, and bring us closer to a nuclear Iran, by ramping up sanctions.
Will Fischer, Iraq War Veteran and Director of Government Relations for VoteVets said:
“Donald Trump’s decision to re-start nuclear tensions with the Iranian regime, when he has made no substantive progress with North Korea, is mindbogglingly dumb and dangerous. Diplomacy is a good thing, which is why we support ongoing talks with North Korea. But to say those talks have yet yielded results would be a lie. To now decide to restoke an old threat, that had been negotiated away, when North Korea is still very much up in the air, shows the short attention span Donald Trump has for these life and death matters.
“Our allies, along with our State Department, eliminated the nuclear threat from Iran through diplomacy. Donald Trump seems hell-bent on restarting it, for the sole reason that President Obama was key in stopping it.
“It is clear we need a Congress that keeps Donald Trump in check, and keeps our international efforts focused, so American security is always paramount to the erratic whims of Donald Trump.”
