VoteVets Endorses RD Huffstetler for Congress

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – VoteVets is today endorsing Roger Dean Huffstetler in his campaign for Congress.

“RD is the kind of forward thinker that we need in Congress, right now,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “It’s no exaggeration to say things in Washington need fixing, and someone with RD’s skill set will be huge in coming up with solutions. His perspective, as a Marine, is especially important right now, as we face a more dangerous world. We need someone like RD to speak out in the halls of power about how and where we apply military force.”

Roger Dean “RD” Huffstetler is a Marine veteran and entrepreneur running for Congress in the 5th District. In 2003, RD enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While on active duty, he served in Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3 (VMAQ-3), an EA-6B Prowler squadron responsible for conducting airborne electronic warfare.  He deployed with VMAQ-3 to both Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan and Al Asad Airfield in Iraq as a key member of the Operations Department, responsible for flight operations.

Honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 2007, RD attended Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School on the GI Bill. After school, he spent five years working for technology companies, learning about the changing economy.  He lives in Charlottesville, VA, with his wife Emily Huffstetler, who’s an OB/GYN, and daughter.
